One thing is certain…I will find a way to smile, and I will find a way to laugh. By NO MEANS is the hotel view in the aforementioned video indicative of a “struggle.” If fact, it was an extremely productive trip.
The video and this passage is really about relative comparisons. One of my favorite quotes is “comparison is thief of joy.” The truth is we all find ourselves being somewhat ungrateful at times. I can remember the years when I had to catch a 6am flight to return home because I could not afford a day in the hotel. #TrueStory So the nerve of me to actually complain about a hotel view. To top it off, the entire trip was “on the house,” and I netted 5 figures 30 days later.
Don’t miss the point! I went from not being able to afford hotels….to paying for hotel suites…to having my hotel rooms paid for….to having my hotel suites paid for….to making 5 figures in one hour while having the entire trip paid for. So I have to laugh. I’m laughing not only because I was actually thankful to the city of New Orleans for having me; but I’m laughing because having a view in New Orleans beats no view at all.
Was the Vegas view nicer? YES! But how much time did I actually spend gazing out of the window? NONE! Was the New Orleans view nice? NOPE! But I don’t think I opened the curtains again after creating this video. Just remember, it’s ok to focus on where you are going, but not at the expense of where you came from. – BNB
